Bruce Willis

Actor and musician Bruce Willis is well known for playing wisecracking or hard-edged characters, most often in spectacular action films. In total, he's appeared in films with a budget more than $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis was born on the 19th of March, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein in West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) and was living at the United States military base. His family moved to the United States shortly following his birth. He grew up in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother was bank clerk while his father was an electrician as well as a worker in a factory. Willis started to take an interest in drama arts during his high school. He was "discovered" while working in an New York City cafe. Then, he was a part of numerous off-Broadway productions. He was bartending one night when a casting director noticed his charisma and asked for his services as the bartender for a small movie. Willis was part of countless auditions before finding the role in the popular romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. The sly and wise-cracking P.I. is seen by some as an attempt to play the part of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster hit Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis his character fought an gang of vicious international thieves within a Los Angeles skyscraper. In the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), Willis reprised his character as McClane. The story was set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to get back an unjust South American general. The sequel, Die Hard with avengeance (1995) was a success. It starred Samuel L. Jackson as an obnoxious Harlem shop owner who has to help McClane during a terrorist bombing campaign that took place on a hot New York day.
