Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was just five years older, she moved to Oxfordshire where she attended Dragon School. Emma was aware of her desire to be an actor from the age of six. She trained for several years in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her singing, dancing, and acting. She was a stagecoach actor and had taken the role of lead in various Stagecoach productions. In 1999, casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) which was the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents stumbled upon Emma through her Oxford theatre teacher. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they had been selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the screen was when the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film broke records for opening-day ticket sales and opening week-end takers and was also the highest-grossing feature of 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as the performances of three young actors who were the most prominent. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper widely published, described Emma's performance as "admirable." Emma received the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a feature Film as well as being nominated for five other awards. Emma gained fame following the film's first success of the series. For a total of ten years she was the character as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma was awarded two Critics Choice Award nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her performance in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
